Fridge-freezer makes a lot of noise

Including sounds that from time to time can be experienced from a refrigerator - and which are completely normal:

• Whirring or hissing / bubbling sounds that occur several times a day or continuously when the system is running. These are due to the refrigerant circulating in the piping system.
• The refrigerant goes from gaseous state over liquid to gaseous form again. The sound occurs due to the gas bubbles that are always in the cooling system and are completely natural
• Click sound comes especially from the thermostat when it turns on and off, and is completely normal.
• Squeaky and crackling sounds are expansion sounds between cabinet and evaporator. Although it "squeaks", it is natural and the appliance works normally. It neither destroys nor impairs the structure or the performance. Noise can occur several times a day and is due to expansions and contractions due to the thermal influences in the appliance. This is perfectly normal.
• The compressor makes a buzzing, humming or spinning sound that can always be heard when it is in operation. This is perfectly normal. Clangling or rattling sounds may come from some pipes going towards each other. Check this on the back of the cabinet by the compressor. These sounds can usually be remedied by gently bending / pushing the pipes into place so that they do not touch each other or other components.

The sound level in refrigerators today is generally between 38 and 43 dB (A), but the sound picture also depends on where the cabinet is located. Freestanding cabinets, placed in a kitchen with hard materials on the floor, walls and ceiling (eg tiles, plasterboard, masonry walls) amplify loudly. Whereas a room with good acoustics (furniture, soft materials, acoustic damping materials) improves the sound level.

Note that a possible illuminated sound level is measured in a special sound-dead test laboratory, which i.a. is built with special sound-absorbing plates. This is done according to strict uniform rules, and therefore a dB test in an ordinary kitchen can not be used to determine the sound level.
