Refrigerator-freezer cools too much

If your refrigerator-freezer cools too much, it can be due to the following:

• Your refrigerator-freezer can freeze too much if there is a leka in the refrigeration system and there is a lack of refrigerant for the system to work.
• The fault can also occur if the refrigerator / freezer pump / compressor is defective. You can check this by placing your hand on the compressor. If it is so hot that you cannot have your hand on it, you must assume that it is defective.
• If the leading edge of the door switch is defective, it will also result in overproduction of cold. A defective door switch will cause teh bulb to run even when you close the door.
• Your fridge-freezer may freeze too much if the thermostat is connected incorrectly. If this is the case, the fault will be resolved immediately if you change the thermostat.
• Your fridge-freezer may freeze too much if the thermostat sensor tube in the thermostat is mounted incorrectly. If it is fitted incorrectly, the temperature control will cause the fridge-freezer too cool too much and thus become too cold.
