Error code E17 occurs when a leak where water has arisen at the bottom of your washing machine. When the error code is activated, the door of the washing machine will be locked and it will therefore not be possible to get hold of the clothes in the washing machine. You can do this to access the clothes.
- Tip the washing machine 90 degrees. This step will cause the water to drain from the float, which is the part that detects flooding of the washing machine. By tipping the washing machine 90 degrees the water will collect away from the float, this will stop error code E17 and it is now possible to open the door.
- By finding the leak, you will ensure that E17 will not appear again. Follow the lime trail to the leak. The leak is typically caused by a leaky gasket or a cracked hose.
Error code E18
If your Gaggenau washing machine has error code E18 typically when there is a fault with the commutator.
Error code E18 occurs when the washing machine takes too long to drain the water. It could be a clogged filter, clogged drain hose or a fault in the drain pump.
If cleaning the filter is not enough to get the washing machine running again, the drain hose is probably blocked. Detach the hose and blow into it. If there is resistance, the drain hose is blocked. In some cases, you may be lucky to have the foreign object blown out of the tube. However, in other cases, it will be necessary to be able to take out the foreign body with a tool such as a curtain spiral.
If the error still occurs, the drain pump must be replaced. Find a drain pump underneath.

- Reset the control module.
- Turn the knob to the off position.
- Close the washing machine door.
- Turn the knob vertically down to "18 o'clock position".
- Wait a few seconds until start/pause starts flashing.
- Press and hold the spin button.
- While still holding the spin knob, turn the knob to the "7 o'clock position".
- Wait for a few seconds and release the centrifugation button and the rotary knob to the off position. Check if the error code is resolved with this.

Error code F23
When the washing machine cannot get rid of the water, the machine will display error code F23. Follow the steps below and we will find the problem.
- The error can occur if there is a kink in the hose. Fix the crack so that the water can access the washing machine.
- If you don't find any cracks, it could be a dirty piece of wood causing problems. You will find the fiber screen behind the cleaning door at the bottom of the washing machine. Take out the sieve and remove dirt and debris from the sieve.
- It can't just be the wire mesh that needs cleaning. The drain pump may also contain dirt. You can find the drain pump sitting behind the sieve. Also check whether the pump vane can rotate. You can check this with a finger. If it does not rotate, the pump is defective. You can find a drain pump below.
- If the error code is still displayed after cleaning both the fiber screen and the drain pump, it may be that the drain pump is clogged. Remove the drain hose from the washing machine and blow into it. If there is resistance while breathing, the drain hose is blocked. You can remove the dirt with a curtain spiral, a wooden strip or similar. For best results, soak the drain hose in lukewarm water first.
- When you have gone through all the steps and still experience problems with Error code E20, it is probably the drain pump that is faulty. This applies regardless of whether the pump vanes are turning or not.

Error code E29
If your Gaggenau washing machine has error code E29, the washing machine does not manage to fill with water within a set period of time. In other words, the water does not enter the washing machine quickly enough.
- If the error code occurs while the program is still running, it is a sign that the drain hose is raised above the height of the drum. This often happens when the washing machine is on a raised platform. By raising the drain hose above the height of the drum, you will solve the problem.
- If the error still occurs after you have done the above, we recommend checking for a kink in the inlet hose on the washing machine. A kink in the inlet hose will prevent the water from being delivered to the washing machine.
- There may be problems with the water supply. Unscrew the hose from the tap, put a bucket under the tap and turn on the water.
- If the water supply is OK, we would recommend checking the filters in the inlet hose. It may be that the inlet hose is limescaled, therefore descale the filter between the tap and the inlet hose and the filter at the back of the washing machine.
- If you have gone through the steps above and the error code E29 won't let you down, it may be because the aqua stop on the washing machine's inlet hose is activated and therefore stops the water before it reaches the machine. You can buy an aquastop below.

The error code typically occurs after the washing machine has been without power for more than 15 minutes, but can also be the result of the control module being broken.
- Check the connection from the control module to all other parts to which it is connected.
- If you find no loose connections, you should disconnect all parts to the control module and then reconnect them one by one.
- If you have tried the above steps and still experience the error code F57, the control modules or the engine management are faulty.
