By decalcifying your espresso machine, you help to extend its life. This can be done e.g. once a month, to ensure that your espresso machine does not become limescale, as too much limescale in its machine will also affect the taste of the coffee.
Descaling the espresso machine actually takes place in the same way as a coffee machine. Check the instructions for use first before you start descaling.
Step 1:
Some espresso machines require you to separate them before descaling. Therefore, it is important to check the user manual.
Step 2:
Pour a mixture of either vinegar or acetic acid into the machine's water tank.
Step 3:
Let the espresso machine run so that the vinegar or acetic acid can reach the entire machine.
Step 4:
Then rinse the machine with water to remove vinegar and limescale residues.
An effective method is to use a water filter to improve water quality. This will also extend the time before you have to descale the espresso machine again.
Step 1:
Water filters must be replaced at regular intervals. This depends on the hardness of lime in the water in your area. You can see a map here. If the hardness of the water is between 750-1500l, the water filter must be replaced at least once a year.
Step 2:
When using a water filter, it is important to replace the filter.
Failure to replace the filter can damage the machine.
If you have an espresso machine, it is important to descale. This is how your espresso machine can tell you that it needs descaling:
Step 1:
Descale regularly (at least 2-4 times a year depending on the water)
Step 2:
The same espresso machine will, for example, lime faster in KBH than in Silkeborg.
Step 3:
Remember to descale before you have problems with limescale.
Step 4:
Consider descaling as necessary maintenance for an expensive machine
Remember, if you get a limescale problem, the machine may have to be completely disassembled and cleaned.
